The blue water guard project has begun. It aims to train about 2,000 young people. These recruits are not soldiers but security personnel. They will work with the Ghana Navy and receive intelligence training. Swimming skills will also be part of their training.
The Ghana Navy plans to create a training basin. This will be along our three water systems. They will coordinate with river guards for better coverage.
By April 15, 400 recruits are expected to finish their training. This completion will allow a second batch to start training soon after. Buah emphasized the urgency of this initiative.
He referenced a recent tragedy in Enchi. A policeman drowned while pursuing illegal miners there. The presence of the blue water guard could have prevented this incident, he stated.
