The High Court, led by Justice Nana Brew, has dismissed a judicial review application by George Smith-Graham, a former director of UMB Bank, against the Bank of Ghana (BoG).
The case arose after UMB appointed Smith-Graham as board chair without obtaining BoG's required "No Objection."
BoG subsequently revoked his appointment, citing a violation of the Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930).
Smith-Graham challenged BoG's authority, but the court ruled in favor of BoG, affirming its broad powers under Act 930 to ensure compliance and dismissed the application as unmeritorious.
