Bole youth rise against MCE nomination, confirmation postponed

Tensions rose in Bole, the capital of the Bole District. This happened on Friday, May 9, 2025. Angry youth protested against Abdulai Mahamud's nomination as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

The protest forced authorities to postpone the confirmation process indefinitely. The demonstration took place in President John Dramani Mahama's hometown. Protesters chanted and held placards expressing their disapproval.

The youth claimed that Mahamud lacked community support. They demanded a reconsideration of his nomination. They urged authorities to consult widely for a better candidate.

In response to the unrest, local authorities suspended the confirmation process. They cited the need to restore calm and address concerns from the youth.
