He has chosen the name Pope Leo XIV.

Prevost, 69, was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1955. He served as Archbishop of Chiclayo, Peru. He also led the Augustinian religious order.

Prevost holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Peru.
