Bryan Acheampong to contest NPP flagbearership

Bryan Acheampong, the MP for Abetifi Constituency, will announce his bid for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership. He aims to run in the 2028 elections.

Reports indicate that he joins other candidates. These include Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, and Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.

In a related story, Andy Appiah-Kubi supports Bryan Acheampong as a strong candidate. The former Asante Akim North MP believes he can help redeem the NPP.

Appiah-Kubi emphasized the need for a capable leader to revitalize the party. He stated that Acheampong is preparing himself for this mission.

He praised Acheampong’s intelligence and business acumen as key strengths. “If we want intellectual prowess, Bryan is our man,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia announced plans for electing the NPP's 2028 candidate by January next year. He noted that the NPP chose its 2024 candidate in November.

This timing gave John Mahama an advantage as he was already campaigning. Bawumia mentioned there was little time for reconciliation after internal elections due to fallout in many constituencies.

Acheampong's candidacy has generated significant interest within the party and beyond.
