Budget targets rich to fund programs for the poor – Adongo

Isaac Adongo has praised the government's new fiscal policy. This policy focuses on taxing the wealthy more to support Ghana's underprivileged.

During an interview on GHOne TV, Adongo stressed the importance of trust in government. He believes that confidence is crucial for managing the economy, especially regarding taxes.

He stated, “Confidence and trust are key in any economy.” Many Ghanaians feel they are not taxed fairly. They also doubt that their tax money will be spent wisely.

Adongo described the latest national budget as a “paradigm shift.” He noted that the Finance Minister and Cabinet decided to redistribute wealth. This means taxing the rich more to fund programs for the poor.

He highlighted recent government initiatives as proof of this change. One example is the National Apprenticeship Programme, which helps over 10,000 unemployed youth.

Adongo mentioned that this program aims to support healthcare for participants. It also seeks to assist taxpayers facing health challenges.

The new policy aims to restore public trust in government actions. It shows that resources can be allocated fairly while supporting vulnerable populations and maintaining economic stability.
