Lieutenant General Arnold Quainoo, former Chief of Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, has passed away at 86 after a short illness.
Quainoo, known as "Buffalo Soldier" and "Gbogbo," joined the army in the 1960s and rose to become Army Commander at 40. He played a vital role in maintaining stability during Ghana’s turbulent political periods.
Beyond his military career, Quainoo contributed to national development, leading the Black Stars to a silver medal in the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations and serving as a peacekeeper in Liberia.
His leadership in regional peace efforts earned him respect across West Africa. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of service, courage, and commitment.
