Businessman petitions UPSA to sack ACP Agordzo as lecturer over RTI revelation of misconduct

A private businessman, Kojo Okyere, has petitioned the Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), seeking the termination of retired Police Officer Benjamin Agordzor’s appointment as a lecturer.

Okyere claims Agordzor’s past misconduct and sanctions during his police service tarnish the institution's reputation.

Citing a Right to Information (RTI) request, Okyere noted that Agordzor was convicted on six counts of misconduct under the Police Service Act 1970 (ACT 350).

Initially dismissed in 2007, his punishment was later reduced to demotion by the Police Council in 2009.

The petition follows Agordzor's controversial remarks on TV3, allegedly inciting police officers against IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

The UPSA registry acknowledged receipt of the petition on January 13, 2025.
