Nana Obiri Boahen, former Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, criticized President John Dramani Mahama. He disapproved of Mahama's decision to distribute sanitary pads to school girls during his first 120 days in office.
In an interview, Boahen called the initiative a "misplaced priority." He argued that while Mahama focused on this, leaders in neighboring countries were making significant progress in national development.
He highlighted Burkina Faso's Interim President Ibrahim Traoré as an example. Boahen noted that Burkina Faso is undergoing transformation under its new leadership. He contrasted this with what he described as Mahama’s symbolic and ineffective gesture.
“This is not an achievement,” he stated. “The President of Burkina Faso is transforming his country. Comparing that to buying sanitary pads for school girls shows a clear misplaced priority.”
