The Central Regional Office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has resolved 342 out of 359 cases. This represents 95.2 percent of the complaints received in the first quarter of this year.
Most complaints, 303, were against the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). This accounts for 84.4 percent of all complaints. The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) received 56 complaints, or 15.6 percent.
The number of complaints has increased compared to previous years. In 2023, there were 322 complaints, and in 2024, there were 312. The PURC resolved 299 cases in 2023 and 293 cases in 2024.
Francis Baidoo, the Central Regional Manager of PURC, spoke to The Ghanaian Times. He noted that more stakeholder engagements led to the increase in complaints.
