The Confederation of African Football (CAF) held a draw on April 21. This event was for the African Schools Football Championship. The tournament will take place in Ghana starting April 23.
The draw ceremony occurred in Accra. It featured many African football legends. This is the first time the tournament is hosted in West Africa.
In the girls' division, Clementine Toure conducted the draw. Host country Ghana is in Group A with Morocco, Benin, and Malawi. Morocco was the runner-up in the last edition.
This will be Ghana's Black Damsels' first participation in this competition. They did not qualify for the previous two tournaments.
In Group B, defending champions South Africa face Uganda, DR Congo, and Gambia.
Asamoah Gyan assisted with the boys' category draw. Ghana is placed in Group A alongside Uganda, South Africa, and Algeria.
Defending champions Tanzania will compete against Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, and DR Congo in Group B. They aim for back-to-back wins.
Gyan believes this tournament offers a great opportunity for young African talents.
The theme of this year's championship is Encourage, Educate, and Engage. The CAF African Schools Football Championship 2025 promises exciting matches and capacity-building programs.
The competition begins on Wednesday, April 23. The final match is scheduled for Saturday, April 26 at the University of Ghana Stadium.
