The Coalition of Actors for Public Health Advocacy (CAPHA) has urged the government to increase funding for school feeding programs. They believe this will improve nutrition and health outcomes for school children nationwide.
Sufficient funding will help provide nutritious meals. This, in turn, can enhance students' physical and mental well-being. Better nutrition may lead to improved academic performance.
At a workshop on maternal interventions in Ghana, Dr. Kasim Abdulai spoke on behalf of CAPHA. He emphasized that investing in school feeding programs is crucial. All students need access to proper nutrition for effective learning.
Dr. Charity Binka, Executive Director of Women, Media and Change (WOMEC), also spoke at the event. She highlighted the importance of investing in school feeding initiatives. These programs promote healthy growth and development among youth.
She stressed the need for meals that meet nutritional standards. Well-structured school feeding programs support student health and sustainable food systems. This includes reducing environmental impacts and promoting sustainable agriculture.
The coalition reiterated that school feeding programs are vital for vulnerable students. They ensure these students receive necessary nourishment to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
