The Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) launched its International Desk yesterday.
This Desk will focus on foreign influence in West African governance.
Its goal is to track and analyze global and regional geopolitical trends. It will assess their impacts on democratic governance, civic space, and inclusive development across Africa.
The launch was part of a regional meeting about foreign powers and their effects. Diplomats, experts, and civil society leaders attended the event. They discussed how foreign actors shape democratic governance. They also explored how local institutions can resist negative influences.
Ambassador Larry Gbevlo-Lartey spoke at the event. He is Ghana’s special envoy to the alliance of Sahel States. He highlighted the need for a regional security mechanism. This mechanism should focus on protection, institutional empowerment, and collaborative governance.
