CDM criticises Felix Kwakye Ofosu's ‘clown’ comment directed at Rev Ntim Fordjour

The Centre for Democratic Movement (CDM) has criticized Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu. He called Reverend John Ntim Fordjour a “clown” during a serious national security debate.

In a statement on Sunday, CDM found Mr. Kwakye Ofosu’s comment “appalling,” “crude,” and damaging to the Presidency's dignity.

The group stated that his insult violated ethical standards for public officials. It also breached Parliamentary Standing Orders against offensive language.

“Mr. Kwakye Ofosu represents the Presidency, not just himself or his party,” the statement said. His actions tarnish the office and undermine civil discourse in our democracy.

This incident occurred amid rising tensions over allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering involving aircraft in Ghanaian airspace.

Rev. Fordjour has been vocal about demanding transparency on these issues. He cites constitutional provisions that empower Parliament to oversee national security matters.

The CDM defended Fordjour’s right to ask questions, calling it a legitimate parliamentary duty. They stated that his concerns should not be dismissed or politicized but examined objectively through proper channels.

The group demanded a public apology from Mr. Kwakye Ofosu to Rev. Fordjour and the nation. They also urged President John Dramani Mahama to take action against his appointee.

“Leadership must show discipline, humility, and statesmanship during national uncertainty,” they added.

CDM called on government agencies like National Security and Civil Aviation Authorities to release all relevant flight records related to the suspicious aircraft. They urged an impartial investigation, possibly with international oversight.

“This is not a time for drama or insults,” the statement emphasized. “We need facts, transparency, and adherence to the law.”

Reverend Fordjour has not publicly responded but reiterated the need for a thorough investigation. He stressed that Ghana must not become a safe haven for transnational crime.

As political tensions rise, CDM urges calmness and cooperation: “Ghana is bigger than any individual or party.” They encourage everyone to prioritize truth over politics.
