CDS Lt. Gen. William Agyapong promoted to Three-Star General

Lieutenant General William Agyapong has been promoted to a Three-Star General. This promotion is effective from 1 May 2025.

This milestone highlights Lt. Gen. Agyapong’s distinguished military career. It also positions him to lead the Ghana Armed Forces with greater authority.

Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah led the decoration ceremony today at 8:00 am. The event took place in his office at the Ministry of Defence.

Dr. Boamah shared on Facebook that he had the honor of decorating Lt. Gen. Agyapong. He emphasized the importance of this occasion and his personal involvement.

The Minister expressed confidence in Lt. Gen. Agyapong’s leadership abilities. He stated, “We trust you to enhance the capabilities of the Ghana Armed Forces.”

Dr. Boamah highlighted expectations for modernizing training and improving readiness for national defense.

This promotion occurs during a period of extensive modernization within the Ghana Armed Forces. The forces are also expanding their regional security cooperation efforts.
