CDS hosts two-star generals in valedictory meeting at Burma Camp

On Monday, 28 April 2025, Major General William Agyapong hosted a meeting. This valedictory meeting included all Two-Star Generals of the Ghana Armed Forces. It took place at his office in Burma Camp.

During the gathering, Major General Agyapong expressed deep appreciation for the Generals. He praised their professionalism and dedication to service. He thanked them on behalf of the President and Commander-in-Chief. Their contributions to national security and defence were acknowledged.

The CDS announced that many Generals would be honorably released from service. This decision aligns with Ghana Armed Forces regulations. It aims to enhance command and control structures. He praised their distinguished careers and assured them of high esteem.

Major General Irvine Aryeetey spoke on behalf of the Two-Star Generals. He is the Commandant of the National College of Defence Studies. He noted that reshuffling military leadership is a long-standing tradition. He provided past examples of leadership transitions within the Armed Forces.

He highlighted transitions from Lt Gen OB Akwa to Vice Admiral S Amoama, and then to General T Oppong-Peprah. The current transition from General T Oppong-Peprah to Major General Agyapong covers four intakes. This follows established norms for military leadership succession.

Major General Aryeetey commended the CDS for hosting outgoing Generals formally. He described it as a respectful acknowledgment of their service. The meeting concluded with a luncheon hosted by Major General Agyapong.

He wished success to the departing Generals in their future endeavors. Service Chiefs and the Chief of Staff at General Headquarters also attended the event.
