The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has announced an indefinite strike starting Thursday, January 2, 2025.

The decision follows an Emergency National Council meeting held on December 30, 2024.

In a statement issued on December 31, CETAG cited the government’s repeated violations of signed agreements and an unresolved compulsory arbitration award issued by the National Labour Commission (NLC) in May 2023.

The union expressed frustration over the NLC's failure to address their grievances despite prior strike notices in September and December 2024.

CETAG declared that members would abstain from teaching, supervision, and other official duties until all owed payments are settled.

The strike is in line with Section 159 of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651).
