The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) insists its ongoing strike, initiated on January 2, 2025, will persist until its concerns are fully addressed, despite calls from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for suspension.
GTEC’s Director-General, Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, criticized the timing of the strike as counterproductive, urging CETAG to engage in further dialogue.
However, CETAG President Maxwell Bunu argued on Citi FM that government commitments have been insufficient, emphasizing that documentation alone cannot resolve the issues.
The strike follows earlier notices in September and December 2024, with CETAG citing the National Labour Commission's failure to resolve grievances.
While CETAG may moderate strike activities, full suspension remains unlikely until satisfactory resolutions are achieved.
