CHASS Ashanti chair unveils new safety measures from GES after school shooting

Suleiman Yeboah is the Chairman of the Ashanti Region chapter of CHASS. He outlined new safety measures for schools after a recent shooting at Adventist Senior High School in Kumasi.

In this tragic incident, a second-year student shot a classmate. This has raised serious concerns about student safety across the region.

Mr. Yeboah spoke on the Joy News Desk about steps to prevent similar events. "We are adopting a more comprehensive approach to security," he stated. This response aims to ensure students' safety and well-being.

He revealed that the Ghana Education Service has issued clear directives. These directives are being actively implemented in schools.

"We've received guidelines from the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service," Mr. Yeboah explained. "We are already putting these measures into action."

He shared that schools, including Adventist Senior High, have started surprise searches. They search students, their dormitories, and their bags.

"This search process is ongoing," he added. "We're inspecting students and their belongings to prevent harmful items."

Mr. Yeboah emphasized educating students about risks associated with dangerous items like weapons.

"We are using this opportunity to teach students about these dangers," he said.

He noted that school assemblies help heads address these concerns and raise awareness among students.
