MyNewsGh.com reports that the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has made a proposal to the Education Minister. They suggest creating a special unit within the Ghana Police Service. This unit would focus on security in senior high schools across the country.
CHASS believes discipline in these schools is currently at risk. They think having trained, uniformed officers at school exits will help maintain order.
According to CHASS, current security personnel lack proper training. This makes it difficult for them to ensure safety and discipline among students. Therefore, they believe establishing a dedicated security unit is essential.
CHASS presented this proposal during a meeting with Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu in Sunyani.
The association hopes their idea will be considered and implemented. They aim to uphold high disciplinary standards in high schools nationwide.
