The Conference of Heads of Private Second-Cycle Schools (CHOPSS) has decried the delayed release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, attributing the issue to the government’s GH₵118 million debt to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
This delay risks disrupting university admissions for thousands of students, particularly those from private schools who have fully paid their registration fees.
CHOPSS warned that the situation threatens the January 2025 admission deadlines for institutions like the University of Education, Winneba.
They called on the Ministry of Education to release funds urgently to WAEC to facilitate the results’ release, citing broken scanners as a major hurdle.
The association also hinted at possible action in collaboration with parents and students if the government fails to resolve the issue swiftly.
