A private citizen has withdrawn his request for an investigation into Samuel Gyamfi. Gyamfi is the CEO of Goldbod. The petition was submitted to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
Eric Dumenu Akatsi sent a formal letter today, May 14, 2025. He requested to discontinue the probe he initiated on May 13, 2025.
In his letter, Akatsi stated, "I am writing to formally withdraw the petition." He referenced corruption allegations against Gyamfi. After careful thought, he decided it was best to withdraw.
He asked CHRAJ to cease any further action related to his petition. Akatsi expressed appreciation for their time and effort in reviewing it. He offered to provide more information if needed.
The incident that sparked the petition occurred on May 10, 2025. Mr. Gyamfi was seen gifting bundles of US dollars to evangelist Nana Agradaa in videos. This happened while he was seated in his Range Rover.
Akatsi had cited Article 218(e) of Ghana's Constitution in his petition. This article allows CHRAJ to investigate suspected corruption by public officials. He described Gyamfi’s actions as “a perfectly clear instance of alleged engagement in suspected corruption.”
Despite this, Akatsi now wants the investigation stopped entirely. A few days before withdrawing, he reported receiving threats against his life.
He said some people were insulting him and making threats as if he committed a crime. Akatsi clarified that he holds no personal animosity toward Gyamfi. He believes he was exercising his rights as a citizen by calling for an investigation.
Meanwhile, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has cautioned Mr. Gyamfi about the incident. No further actions are expected from the government or Presidency regarding this matter.
Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu stated that the issue is resolved after Gyamfi's apology. This announcement came during a press briefing on May 14.
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu explained that the Chief of Staff acknowledged Gyamfi's apology and cautioned him accordingly. He emphasized that public sentiment should be considered moving forward.
