CJ removal saga: 'The consequences of our actions lie ahead of us,' says Oppong Nkrumah

Former Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has issued a warning. He cautioned that the impeachment process against Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo could harm Ghana's democracy.

On JoyNews' AM Show, he stressed the importance of careful consideration. "The consequences of our actions lie ahead of us," he stated. He highlighted the potential long-term effects of these proceedings.

"Posterity will judge all those involved," he added. He believes future generations will evaluate decisions made during this time.

Frank Davies, chairman of the Constitutional and Legal Committee of the NPP, also expressed concerns. He warned that the impeachment process might threaten judicial independence in Ghana.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, he reacted to a recent Supreme Court decision. The court struck out a supplementary affidavit from Chief Justice Torkornoo related to a petition.

Davies admitted he had not reviewed the full ruling yet. However, he found the broader implications troubling for Ghana’s democracy.
