The Chamber of Licensed Gold Buyers (CLGB) has praised the Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD). They extended the deadline for the new gold trading license regime. This decision follows requests from stakeholders in the gold trading sector.
The extension allows current license holders to operate until June 21, 2025. This is one month longer than the original deadline of May 21. Mr. Kwaku Amoah, CEO of CLGB, stated that this shows GOLDBOD's willingness to work with stakeholders.
He added that it promotes confidence and a structured gold trading ecosystem. The CLGB believes this decision supports participatory governance in Ghana’s gold sector. They see it as a chance for traders to meet new regulatory expectations without disruption.
The CLGB encourages all license holders to use this extension wisely. They should regularize their operations and comply with new licensing requirements. The Chamber is also ready to collaborate with GOLDBOD and others for ethical practices in the industry.
Ghana’s gold sector is crucial for its economy. This regulatory update aims to improve oversight and combat illicit trade.
