CLOGSAG declares nationwide strike over Births and Deaths registrar appointment

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced a nationwide strike to protest the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.

The decision follows a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on February 11, 2025, where members opposed appointing politically exposed individuals to key civil service roles.

CLOGSAG had warned it would take action if such an appointment was made.

With Mr. Botchway assuming office on February 12, 2025, the association has set Thursday, February 20, 2025, as the start of its strike, signaling strong opposition to what it sees as political interference in the civil service.
