CLOGSAG stands firm on strike, rejects government’s appeal

The government continues to call for dialogue The government continues to call for dialogue

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has reaffirmed its nationwide strike after a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Saturday.

Despite an appeal from Labour Minister Abdul-Rashid H. Pelpuo to end the strike, CLOGSAG maintains that the government has yet to present a clear resolution roadmap.

The strike stems from the controversial appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry, a position CLOGSAG insists should remain politically neutral.

Meanwhile, internal divisions have emerged as the Local Governance Service Workers’ Union (LGSWU) dissociates itself from the strike, citing an ongoing legal battle.

The government continues to call for dialogue, with Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu defending the appointment and urging CLOGSAG to reconsider its stance.
