CNC workers threaten strike over unpaid institutional-specific allowance

Members of the Centres for National Culture (CNC) are warning of a possible strike. This comes due to the government's failure to pay their Institutional-Specific Allowance.

The announcement was made at the CNC’s 4th quadrennial conference in Kumasi. Divisional Chairman Isaac Mensah expressed frustration over this ongoing issue. He stated that repeated appeals to authorities have received no positive response.

Mensah pointed out that other public institutions receive this allowance, but CNC staff do not. “We have waited long enough,” he said. “Our work is important, and we deserve what is rightfully ours.”

He added that they will escalate the matter through their mother union, PSWU. If necessary, they may resort to industrial action.

John Kudenu Sampah, Deputy General Secretary of PSWU, supported this position. He expressed concern about the nonpayment of allowances to CNC staff and other affected unions. Sampah urged the government to resolve this issue quickly to prevent further disruption in public services.
