Dr. Randy Abbey, the CEO of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), is upset. He found a large amount of imported cocopeat abandoned at the Sewhi Boako Cocoa station. This station is in the Sewhi Wiaso Municipality of the Western North Region.
During his recent inspection, Dr. Abbey was visibly troubled by the neglected cocopeat. This material is essential for cocoa seedling production. He questioned why such a large quantity was imported only to be left unused.
“This is unacceptable,” Dr. Abbey stated. “This input was meant to boost cocoa production.” He expressed concern about seeing it wasted and unutilized.
He has called for an immediate investigation into this issue. Local managers and officials must account for the abandoned cocopeat. Dr. Abbey stressed the need for strict monitoring and accountability in COCOBOD’s agricultural programs.
Farmers and residents welcomed his concern. They hope it will lead to better management of cocoa resources in their region.
