Prof. Titus Beyuo, the MP for Lambussie, has rejected calls for Sammy Gyamfi's suspension. Gyamfi is the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board. Beyuo described these demands as baseless and politically motivated.
The controversy arose from a viral video. In it, Gyamfi appeared to give U.S. dollars to Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, known as Nana Agradaa. This sparked public criticism and pressure from the Minority in Parliament.
They demanded Gyamfi’s suspension for what they called an inappropriate act. However, on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on May 13, 2025, Prof. Beyuo acknowledged that the situation looked bad but insisted there was no legal breach.
He stated that Gyamfi recognized his actions were not criminal but regrettable. "It doesn’t reflect well on the government or those who appointed him," he said.
Beyuo argued there are no clear grounds for disciplinary action under current laws. He emphasized that specific offenses warranting punishment are not present in this case.
He maintained that the presidency is handling the matter appropriately. Beyuo urged critics to let the process unfold without interference. "The call by the Minority is honestly baseless," he concluded.
Sammy Gyamfi has met with the Chief of Staff regarding this cash gift incident.
