Calls on Okudzeto Ablakwa to resign heightens

Calls are growing for Foreign Affairs Minister Okudzeto Ablakwa to resign. This follows Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang's return to Ghana on a private jet.

Ablakwa criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for using private jets. He stated he would resign if his government did the same. He emphasized that his stance is based on principle, not personal feelings.

"I will resign if my government uses a private jet," he said in an interview with Adom FM while in opposition. "It's about protecting the public purse, not hating Akufo-Addo."

Despite this, Ablakwa remains in office after reports of the Vice President and even the President using private jets.

Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah defended the Vice President's use of a private jet. He explained that the presidential jet is currently abroad for maintenance.

In a social media post, he shared details about the state of the presidential jet. He noted that it has corroded fuel tanks and is unfit for use right now.

Ablakwa continues to update his social media with engagements on behalf of Ghana. Members of the opposition New Patriotic Party have urged him to resign based on his previous statements.
