The Minister for Energy and Green Transitions, John Jinapor, addressed concerns about fuel stock. Reports indicated that Ghana has only 2.6 days of fuel left for power generation.
On Citi FM's Eyewitness News, Jinapor confirmed the figure was accurate. However, he emphasized that proactive measures are in place to prevent a crisis.
He stated, “We have 2.6 days of fuel.” He added that the Ministry of Finance has supported them by procuring 450,000 barrels of light crude oil arriving this weekend.
Jinapor reassured the public not to panic. He said, “We shouldn’t panic. We will be okay.”
His comments come amid public anxiety over potential power shortages. Some areas have experienced intermittent blackouts recently.
Jinapor insisted there is no cause for alarm. He affirmed that the new fuel stock would stabilize supply and keep the power sector running efficiently.
