The Ashanti Regional Police have arrested a 29-year-old Cameroonian. He is accused of internet fraud and human trafficking.
Bella Merie was taken into custody with 43 other Cameroonians. They were found at his home in Kenyasi Abrem, located in the Kwabre East Municipality.
Police investigations revealed that Merie fraudulently obtained 4.5 million CFA Francs. This money came from 32 males and 11 females. He deceived them by promising jobs in Ghana.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo confirmed the arrest. He is the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Police Service. The statement was issued in Kumasi.
