Franklin Cudjoe, president of IMANI Africa, has called for an investigation into Ghana's contract with KELNIGVG.
He believes the country was shortchanged by this deal. Simply not renewing the contract will not help Ghana.
Cudjoe argues that probing and canceling the contract is essential. He claims the deal was designed to steal money from Ghanaians.
His comments follow the current communications minister's announcement about not renewing the contract after it expires.
Cudjoe insists that, in addition to canceling the contract, Ghana should recover funds paid to KELNIGVG.
In a social media post, he asked, "Where are the ECG containers?"
He also questioned when former communications minister would be invited to explain her actions. Cudjoe criticized her for wasting $179 million on a faulty telecom revenue monitoring system.
Current Minister Sam George stated he won't renew the KELNIGVG contract. However, he needs to clarify when this contract expires.
The agreement was set for ten years at $1.5 million monthly from 2018 to 2028. So far, no reports of KELNIGVG's success have been published.
Cudjoe argues there is no reason for the contract to continue until 2028. It must be canceled immediately, and all payments made since 2018 should be recovered.
