Cardinal Farrell to  preside at rite of ascertainment of Pope Francis’ death

Cardinal Kevin Farrell will lead the rite for Pope Francis. This event will confirm the Pope's death and place his body in a coffin. It is scheduled for Monday evening.

The Holy See Press Office announced this on Monday. The ceremony will take place at 8:00 PM Rome time. It will occur in the Chapel of the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta.

Cardinal Farrell, as Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, will preside over the rite. Attendees will include Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Dean of the College of Cardinals. Family members of Pope Francis will also be present.

Dr. Andrea Arcangeli and Dr. Luigi Carbone will attend as well. They are the Director and Deputy Director of Health and Hygiene, respectively.
