Cashew farmers in the Bono Region are seeking help from the Tree Crop Development Authority (TCDA). They want a processing factory for cashew apples to boost their income.
The farmers report that most cashew apples rot on farms. This happens due to a lack of technical knowledge and processing industries.
Cashew apples can be turned into various products. These include juices, jams, and alcoholic beverages like wine.
This issue was highlighted during an event yesterday. The event launched the second phase of Amplifying Voices of Cashew Farmers. It was organized by Cashew Watch Ghana, a civil society advocacy group in Banda.
