The Minority Caucus in Parliament urges the government to act quickly. They want the recent strengthening of the Ghanaian Cedi to benefit the public.
Deputy Minority Leader, Madam Patricia Appiagyei, welcomed the improved exchange rate. However, she noted its effect on living costs is still unclear.
Madam Appiagyei spoke during a Leaders’ Media Briefing on Wednesday. This briefing occurs at the start of each Parliamentary Meeting.
It allows leaders to engage with the Parliamentary Press Corps (PPC). The session outlines the meeting's framework and fosters interaction.
“Everyone is pleased that the cedi is stronger,” she said. “But what does this mean for living costs?”
She emphasized that actions are needed to ensure benefits reach citizens. The downward trend of the cedi should reflect in lower living costs.
