Cedi’s gains driven by fiscal-monetary alignment – Inusah Fuseini

Inusah Fuseini, a former MP for Tamale Central, spoke about the cedi's strength. He believes it is due to effective fiscal and monetary policies under the Mahama administration.

In an interview on Channel One TV's The Big Issue, he emphasized this point. He stated that the cedi’s improvement is not just from external economic conditions. It results from deliberate policy alignment by the current government.

Fuseini said, "The congruence of monetary and fiscal policy is driving the change." He noted that while global market dynamics affect West Africa, other currencies are struggling.

He mentioned that the CFA franc and Nigerian naira are not performing well. "Exogenous factors affect all of us," he explained, but they do not fully account for the cedi's strength.

His comments reflect a belief that domestic policies are key to the cedi’s appreciation. Economic observers have also noted improved market confidence and increased investor interest as factors in this performance.
