Chairman Wontumi’s Bank Accounts Frozen Amid Financial Probe
The Financial Intelligence Centre has frozen all bank accounts linked to Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi. This action follows allegations of financial irregularities.
Boasiako's mining company, Akonta Mining, is also affected. The freeze was initiated under Section 56(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044). This law allows the Centre to restrict access to accounts suspected of illicit activity.
All transactions involving Boasiako, Akonta Mining, and Hallmark Civil Engineering Limited must be halted immediately. This move is part of a larger investigation into suspected money laundering and financial misconduct.
Boasiako is currently the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
