Concerns have been raised after a vehicle carrying ammonium nitrate, a chemical used in explosives, was intercepted at Chairman Wountumi's stone quarry.
The vehicle lacked proper documentation and security escort, endangering workers and the surrounding community.
Eyewitnesses reported that security officers stopped the vehicle, but in a surprising twist, the Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman Wountumi, allegedly contacted the local police, urging them to allow the vehicle through without inspection.
"Let it pass," he reportedly told officers, sparking outrage.
The police complied, allowing the vehicle to proceed, despite the hazardous nature of the cargo.
Critics are questioning Wountumi’s actions, calling for stricter regulations on transporting dangerous substances to prevent such risks in the future.
