Chamber of Aquaculture courts Spanish investors for mariculture

The Chamber of Aquaculture Ghana is inviting Spanish investors. They want them to explore opportunities in Ghana’s mariculture sector. This sector is largely untapped and offers promising investment potential.

Ghana imports over $250 million worth of seafood each year. This is necessary to fill a significant gap in domestic production. Marine fish stocks are under pressure from overfishing, pollution, and climate change. The Chamber emphasizes the importance of mariculture for food security and economic growth.

Jacob Adzikah, CEO of the Chamber, spoke at the Aquaculture Spain 2025 Conference in Vigo. He highlighted Ghana’s favorable investment climate. This includes strong government incentives and regulatory protections.

Investors can benefit from a five-year tax holiday for aquaculture ventures. There are also duty exemptions on imported fishing equipment. Additionally, there is a solid legal framework that supports sustainability and investment security.

Mr. Adzikah told investors that mariculture offers significant business opportunities. He urged them to explore these options to boost sustainable seafood production. With proper investments, Ghana could lead in sustainable farmed fish production.

The Chamber's message comes at a vital time as global demand for sustainable seafood rises. Ghana aims to leverage its marine resources and investor-friendly policies. It seeks to become a key player in Africa’s aquaculture future.
