Chief Justice urges kayayei to embrace education beyond menial labor

Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has encouraged kayayei (head porters) to pursue educational opportunities beyond their current job.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of Officers of the Justice Club of Orange Girls, she advised them to take advantage of government and NGO educational initiatives.

The Chief Justice's Mentoring Programme, inaugurated for 16 years, aims to mentor young girls for societal influence. Justice Torkornoo introduced the enhanced Justice's Mentoring Programme to aid youth development.

The programme's success has seen marginalized girls gaining empowerment and education, with some advancing to higher education institutions. UNFPA pledged support for girl child education in the programme.
