On Monday, April 28, 2025, Major General William Agyapong hosted a meeting.
He gathered all Two-Star Generals of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) at his office in Burma Camp.
During the meeting, the CDS praised the Generals for their professionalism.
He thanked them for their dedicated service to the country.
The CDS conveyed gratitude from the President and Commander-in-Chief.
He acknowledged their invaluable contributions to the GAF.
Major General Agyapong informed the Generals about upcoming changes.
Many of them will be honorably released from service soon.
This decision follows Ghana Armed Forces regulations to aid command and control.
Major General Irvine Aryeetey spoke on behalf of the Generals present.
He noted that changes in Military High Command are not new.
These changes align with the history of the Ghana Armed Forces.
As tradition dictates, new leaders take over from their predecessors.
He referenced past transitions between various Chiefs of Defence Staff (CDS).
For example, Lieutenant General O.B. Akwa handed over to Vice Admiral S. Amoama after five intakes.
Similarly, Vice Admiral S. Amoama transitioned to General Thomas Oppong-Peprah after three intakes.
The current change involves four intakes between General Thomas Oppong-Peprah and Major General W. Agyapong.
This pattern is consistent with military tradition, he concluded.
Major General Aryeetey thanked the CDS for formally honoring them at this meeting.
The gathering ended with a luncheon hosted by Major General Agyapong.
He wished all Generals well in their future endeavors.
Service Chiefs and Chief of Staff were also present at this meeting.
