A violent chieftaincy clash at Gomoa Obuasi in the Central Region has left six people injured, including the head of the Asona Royal Family, Agya Amoh.

The incident erupted when a youth group supporting one faction attacked their rivals during a community meeting, causing property damage.

Reports indicate that tensions escalated after the Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah, installed Kwabena Atta as caretaker chief following the death of the town’s substantive chief.

However, the Regent has refused to hand over, fueling the ongoing conflict.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers hurled stones, damaging the palace roof and two vehicles.

Fearing further violence, some occupants fled the premises.

Police have been alerted as the community remains on edge over the escalating tensions.
