Kush Mkushi, the Financial Director of Absa Bank Ghana, spoke at the Citi Business Festival. He emphasized that financial planning is for everyone, not just those with steady incomes.
Mkushi encouraged Ghanaians to manage their money wisely. He said this applies regardless of their financial situation. “Even without income, you can do some financial planning,” he stated.
He acknowledged that living costs can be unpredictable. However, he urged people without regular earnings to assess their skills. They should look for ways to generate income.
Fresh graduates often find themselves in this position. Mkushi explained that they might be seeking jobs after education. During this time, they should focus on meeting basic needs and gaining experience.
He advised them to use spare time wisely. This could involve acquiring new skills or starting a business. “Your goal is to meet basic needs while preparing for future opportunities,” he noted.
Mkushi highlighted the importance of discipline in managing finances. This is especially crucial during uncertain times or transitions.
The Citi Business Festival runs for a month and features expert discussions on finance. It aims to help Ghanaians develop better financial habits and grow businesses.
This year’s festival partners with Absa Bank Ghana and MTN, sponsored by Zonda Tec Ghana.
