Citi FM Foundation brings Easter cheer to Orphans and Rehab inmates today

The Citi FM Foundation is hosting its annual Easter Orphan Project today, April 21. This event takes place on Easter Monday. It aims to bring joy to children in orphanages and rehabilitation centres across the country.

Citi FM and Channel One TV are collaborating on this initiative. It is part of their Family Month activities. This year, over 500 orphans will benefit from the project. They are located at the Baptist School Complex Orphanage (BASCO) in Trotor, near Suhum, as well as in the Northern and Ashanti Regions.

Frema Adunyame leads Events and Partnerships at Citi FM and Channel One TV. She shared insights about the project's purpose before today's presentation. "This is a project where we visit various orphanages," she said.

"We go up north, to the Ashanti Region, and to BASCO." Frema explained that they have done this for many years. "We do it every Easter Monday to spend time with the children."

She emphasized that this initiative shows children they are cared for despite their circumstances. "There are still family members who care about them," she added.

This year, there is an expanded focus on supporting individuals in rehabilitation centres. "In addition to visiting orphanages, we are also visiting two drug rehabilitation centres," Frema noted.

These centres are Iris Place and Chosen Rehab. She acknowledged that reintegration can be difficult but necessary for these individuals. "While they are here, they need support," she said.

Frema hopes for continued support so they can maintain this effort annually.
