Some residents of the Hohoe Constituency in the Volta Region have welcomed Speaker Alban S.K. Bagbin’s decision to suspend four Members of Parliament for misconduct during the Appointments Committee proceedings.

The affected MPs—Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, Majority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Second Minority Whip Jerry Shaibu, and Gushegu MP Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli—are barred from parliamentary sittings for two weeks, starting January 31, 2025.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, residents supported the Speaker’s action, citing the need for discipline in Parliament.

Medical officer Lawrence Amoah criticized the Committee Chair for failing to control proceedings, while student Linda Adu emphasized the importance of maintaining Parliament’s integrity.

Media personality Eric Atikpladza condemned the destruction of state property. A seven-member Special Committee has been tasked with investigating the incident.
