Clash Between Soldiers and Civilians in Nyinahin Leaves 1 Dead

A clash between soldiers and residents in Nyinahin turned deadly. The incident occurred on April 24, 2025, during a funeral. A 37-year-old man was killed, and four others were injured.

The clash happened in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region. Three injured individuals are receiving treatment at Nyinahin Government Hospital. One person has been transferred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

Clinton Darko, the Assembly Member for Nyinahin Bubuom Electoral Area, spoke to Citi News. He said military personnel encountered young men wearing military-style uniforms. The officers asked them to remove the uniforms.

Tensions escalated quickly. Stones were thrown, and gunshots were fired. This led to the death of Akwasi Lala.

After the shooting, military personnel fled the scene. Police have been deployed to restore calm and investigate the incident.
