President Nana Akufo-Addo addressed the UN General Assembly, urging world leaders to urgently combat climate change, particularly its severe impacts on Africa.
He highlighted that, despite contributing minimally to global emissions, Africa faces devastating consequences like floods and desertification.
Akufo-Addo called for climate justice, emphasizing that Africa should not bear the burden of a crisis it did not cause, and demanded a fair system that benefits all, not just a privileged few.
He also pointed out that over 700 million people live in extreme poverty, stressing the need for global leaders to address the widening gap between rich and poor.
