Quality nursing education and healthcare are essential today. To address this need, advanced training programs for skilled labor in nursing are crucial.
A significant step has been taken to establish the Kumawu Nursing and Midwifery College. This college will provide comprehensive nursing training. It aims to foster a new generation of skilled healthcare professionals for the nation.
On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, a 9-member Implementation Committee was commissioned. The ceremony was led by Kumawumanhene Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua and Rev. Msgr. John Opoku-Agyemang from the Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong.
The committee includes representatives from various organizations. These include the Catholic Church, Kumawu Traditional Council, and Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly. Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, MP for Kumawu Constituency, is also a member.
The committee's tasks include naming the college and obtaining accreditation. They will also establish a timeline for implementation.
At the ceremony in Kumawu, Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua urged members to work diligently. He emphasized that establishing the school should become a reality.
Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim assured support from local leaders for this initiative. He stated that effective actions would be taken to achieve their goals.
Rev. Msgr. John Opoku-Agyemang confirmed his commitment to supporting the project’s success.
The committee discussed important infrastructure needs like classrooms and dormitories. They also talked about renovating the historic Kumawu Hospital building.
The Kumawu Nursing and Midwifery College is expected to greatly impact nursing and healthcare delivery in the region.
