A five-member committee will investigate petitions against Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
President John Dramani Mahama established the committee. It will begin hearings on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Supreme Court Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang chairs the committee. It was formed under Article 146(6) of the 1992 Constitution after a prima facie case was found.
The President consulted with the Council of State to create this committee.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Presidential Spokesperson, issued a statement about it. The committee will meet three times a week.
It will submit its findings and recommendations to the President when finished.
The outcome of these hearings is important for Chief Justice Torkornoo's future. There is growing public and institutional interest in this case.
